YOGA, WALKING & ELEMENTAL RETREAT WITH AQUILA ROSE & LUCY HILL
YORKSHIRE | 21st - 24th September 2018

Join the Chaya family in the incredible English countryside, to celebrate, honour and re-connect to the elements, over the Autumn Equinox.

Equinox offers a powerful time to re-connect to mother earth; to come back to our home both within and outside of ourselves. It's the perfect natural time to release all that doesn’t serve – on a physical, mental and spiritual level.

Through yogic practices, meditations, ceremony, workshops, sound healing, walking and singing; in community, we will attune to the vibration of the land, to give love to and receive support, cleansing and nourishment from pacha mama!

VENUE | BROUGHTON HALL + AVALON
Broughton Hall is an incredible quintessentially English estate. Set in 3,000 acres of stunning Yorkshire countryside, the hall itself dates back to the 1500's. Sensitively and perfectly preserved, the sixteen bedroom hall and the further six properties situated on the estate, offer a completely unique home for retreats. Chaya are so excited to host a series of UK retreats here. 
Avalon is a brand new, (opening June 2018) state of the art wellbeing centre, situated on the estate, designed by Yiangou architects and Patrick Kinmonth. Incorporating two cantilever yoga studios, a 20m heated pool, hydrotherapy, meditation pods, relaxation room and library, steam and sauna, personal training studio, floatation tank and therapy rooms. Chaya guests will have full access to Avalon during their stay. 

YOGA | AQUILA
As a dear Chaya friend and one of our key resident teachers, Aquila brings a beautiful, grounded, connected, yet playful energy to retreat. Which is perfectly aligned with our intention. Aquila has been practising since 1997 when taken to Varanasi, India by her parents - where she studied yoga alongside them from the age of 8. Throughout her teens it became a way to keep sane through the turmoils of understanding the world around her. Finally completing her qualification in 2012 in Ashtanga Vinyasa, she began to teach at Stretch in East London and then internationally, at retreats and workshops. She has taken additional training with Stewart Gilchrist, Amanda Denton, Ana Forrest, Manju Jois and Paul Harvey. 
After becoming a mother she has trained and now works as a doula, running ceremony's for women and pregnant mothers. Aquila teaches with compassion and humour and connecting the practice to rituals, ceremony and philosophy.

FOOD | CHAYA KITCHEN
Using the bountiful abundance of local fruit and vegetables, Chaya Kitchen (aka Chaya founder, wellbeing food coach and teacher Lucy Hill and plant-based chef Laura Paine), will prepare delicious, plant-based meals. The food will refer to the pillars of a therapeutic diet to best support you during retreat, with the natural detoxifying element of the Autumn equinox in mind. Full of tasty super foods designed to cleanse and lighten you mentally and physically, whilst energising and brightening you from the inside out.

Homemade nut and seed mylks, organic juices, superfood smoothies and raw chocolate are a standard on all Chaya retreats. Being super-foodie's at heart, we ensure there's absolutely never any compromise on any aspect of the eating experience. We look forward to surprising and delighting you in just how good truly healthy food can taste and feel.

THE ELEMENTS
Each day, we’ll focus on a different element within our practices and activities during the 4 days. Beginning with fire, we’ll attune to this powerful, cleansing energy to let go of all that isn’t serving us with a fire ritual. We’ll then transition through to air, where we’ll feel in to this element’s movement and dynamism, looking at how this element moves through our lives - and also how we communicate, using chanting and sound healing.
Next we move to earth, where we’ll honour and connect with the land and receive nourishment and support for our dear home. And give gratitude for the eternal abundance provided for us with a personal gratitude practice and an earth ritual.
Lastly, we’ll work with the element of water. Aligning with water’s innate ability to cleanse and move, helping us to re-connect to the flow of life itself. 

WELLBEING FOOD WORKSHOP | LUCY HILL
Lucy will be hosting a 2-hour workshop during the week covering ‘Wellbeing Food’ where we will discuss what wellbeing eating is and how to support the body to thrive, not just survive. We’ll look at simple and effective ways to upgrade the way you eat for better health; with a focus on creating delicious, energising meals and snacks. All meaning you feel inspired and in the know, about how to feel amazing through the way you eat.

TYPICAL DAY RETREAT SCHEDULE
08:00 - 10:00 Dynamic flow and meditation (2hrs)
10:00 - 11:00 Buffet brunch
11:00 - 16:00 Treatments, free time, activities
16:00 - 17:30 Slow flow, meditative asana class (90 mins)
19:00 - 20:30 Dinner
20:45 - 21:30 Yoga Nidra or guided meditation (1 during the week)

BY ROAD
When travelling from Skipton bear left 200 metres past The Bull Inn. When travelling from Lancashire, follow signs to Skipton, turn right 200 metres after the A59/A56 roundabout.

BY RAIL
Trains run frequently from Skipton station to all parts of the UK. There is a direct service to and from London King’s Cross St Pancras.
